What We Offer
Our Services
Three considered engagements, designed around the situations families typically face when planning for the future or settling an estate.
Will Drafting & Personal Estate Advisory
A considered engagement for individuals and couples who want to put their affairs in order through a properly drafted will and clear supporting arrangements. The process begins with your circumstances — family, dependants, assets in Malaysia and abroad — and ends with a signed copy for safekeeping and a written summary for your executor.
- Tailored will preparation
- Guardianship & trustee guidance
- Retirement & insurance nominations reviewed
- Handover meeting with executor summary
Probate, Letters of Administration & Estate Distribution
A measured engagement for executors and family members handling the estate of someone who has passed away. The work proceeds in order — establishing entitlement, applying for grant of probate or letters of administration, assembling the asset schedule, and managing distribution. Correspondence with banks, land authorities, and the EPF is handled on your behalf.
- Probate & letters of administration
- Asset & liability schedule preparation
- Bank, land authority & EPF coordination
- Regular written updates throughout
Comprehensive Estate Planning & Family Wealth Programme
A more substantial engagement for clients with multi-generational interests, business holdings, or assets held across borders. Covers will preparation, family trust structuring, insurance and pension nominations, lifetime gifting guidance, and business succession planning for ownership and management. Annual reviews keep arrangements aligned with your family's situation.
- Family trust structuring
- Business succession planning
- Cross-border asset coordination
- Annual review meetings included
Why Families Choose veridianud
A different approach to estate work
Unhurried advisory process
Estate matters benefit from careful thought, not speed. We structure each engagement to give the subject the time it deserves.
Malaysian legal context
All advice is grounded in Malaysian law — from the Wills Act 1959 to the Probate and Administration Act 1959 — with attention to EPF, KWSP, and property considerations specific to this jurisdiction.
Written updates as a standard
Clients receive written records of progress and decisions, so nothing is lost in memory and the executor always has a clear picture.
Family-centred engagement
We recognise that estate planning touches family relationships. Our approach respects that context and keeps conversations measured and considerate.
Cross-institution coordination
For probate engagements, we liaise with banks, the land office, and EPF directly — reducing the administrative weight on the family at a difficult time.
Annual review for complex arrangements
For clients on the comprehensive programme, scheduled annual reviews ensure that estate structures remain well-fitted to the family's actual circumstances.
A place to begin
Is this a good time to have the conversation?
Many people find that the practical side of estate planning is much more manageable once there is a clear structure in place. We are happy to begin with a straightforward discussion about your situation and what would be useful.
Common Questions
Questions families often ask
Do I need a lawyer to draft a will in Malaysia, or can I do it myself?
A will can technically be written without professional involvement, provided it meets the formal requirements of the Wills Act 1959 — two witnesses, no beneficiary among them, and a clear expression of intent. In practice, wills drafted without guidance frequently contain ambiguities that create difficulties for executors and beneficiaries later. A considered engagement at the outset tends to cost considerably less than resolving those difficulties after the fact.
How long does probate typically take in Malaysia?
Timeline varies significantly depending on whether a valid will exists, the size and nature of the estate, and how promptly the relevant institutions respond. A straightforward estate with a clear will and modest assets might be resolved in four to eight months. Larger or more complex estates, or those requiring letters of administration where no will exists, often take twelve months or more. We provide written updates at each stage so the family is not left wondering where matters stand.
What happens to EPF savings and life insurance if there is no will?
EPF savings are governed by nomination, not by the will — which is why reviewing your nomination regularly matters. If no nomination is in place, EPF distributes savings according to its own rules, which may differ from your intentions. Life insurance proceeds similarly pass to the named nominee rather than the estate. We review these arrangements as part of both our will drafting and comprehensive programme engagements, so the various instruments in a client's estate work together rather than at cross-purposes.
Can a will cover property held jointly or under a company?
Joint property passes by survivorship rather than through the will, so it requires separate consideration. Shares in a private company are generally subject to the will and to the company's own articles of association, which may contain restrictions on transfer. The comprehensive estate planning programme specifically addresses these overlapping frameworks and helps clients understand how each layer interacts.
What is the difference between probate and letters of administration?
Grant of probate is issued when the deceased left a valid will naming an executor. Letters of administration are issued where there is no valid will, or where the named executor is unable to act. Both authorise the holder to deal with the deceased's assets, but the process for obtaining them differs somewhat. We work through both routes depending on the circumstances of the estate.
How are your fees structured?
Our three engagements are priced at fixed fee points — RM 700 for will drafting and personal advisory, RM 1,300 for the probate and estate distribution engagement, and RM 2,100 for the comprehensive estate planning and family wealth programme. Where a matter is unusually complex or requires coordination across borders, we discuss the scope and any additional considerations before proceeding. There are no hidden fees.
